Calling all owners of buildings with 9 or more units: the brown bin is coming!

Buildings served by container

The city offers container collection to all types of buildings (8 dwellings or less or 9 dwellings or more). Here are the types of containers accepted for each collection:

Garbage collection :

  • Front-loading from 2 to 8 cubic yards: collection Monday to Friday. Please contact us for the day assigned to your building.
  • Crane loading: collection on Tuesdays

Recycling collection :

  • Front-loading 2 to 8 cubic yards: collection on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Please contact us for the day assigned to your building.
  • Crane loading: collection on Wednesdays

Food waste collection :

  • Crane loading: collection on Wednesdays
  • Front loading 2 cubic yards coming soon

Please note that if your building has an exemption permit for either collection, your collection will be carried out under a private contract. Contact your building manager.

Exempt properties still have access to ecocentres, 2 Christmas tree collections, 5 wood bulky waste collections and 1 non-recyclable bulky waste collection per month (the first date of the month according to your sector’s calendar).

Container collections are made on a weekly basis (once a week).

The type of container installed must comply with the zoning by-law. To find out which zoning applies to your property, please contact the Direction de l’urbanisme (450 923-6311).

Large buildings can be served by wheeled bins for all collections. However, the maximum number of bins per collection is 12. Above 12, the installation of a container may be required.

Here’s how the collections work:

  • Garbage collection: once every 2 weeks according to your sector’s schedule.
  • Recycling collection: once a week (sectors C-I-J-L-M-X-Y-N-O-S every Thursday, then sectors A-B-E-P-R-T-V every Friday)
  • Food waste collection: once a week, according to your sector’s schedule.
