Edible landscaping zone

HERE, we collect ideas
Featuring a variety of fruit trees and shrubs, edible flowers and herbs, this initiative was designed to introduce citizens to the many possibilities offered by urban agriculture in terms of ornamental and edible landscaping. A wide variety of healthy, low-cost gourmet options that residents can replicate on their own property.
What’s more, this area will also contribute to the preservation of biodiversity, providing shelter and food for a variety of insects and birds.

| Citizen Participation – Volunteer Committee To ensure the long-term survival of the feeder forest, the town is calling on its citizens to help set up a volunteer committee to manage, harvest and maintain the plot. If you have any questions about the Volunteer Committee, please write to [email protected]. Welcome to all! |
Plants and harvesting
To find out more about the plants present in the area, the list of plants planted is given in the table below. In addition, you’ll find the following information for each variety:
- Identification of edible part(s);
- The right time of year for picking;
- Recommended picking method;
- How to consume or use the edible part(s).
In addition, the Brossard Georgette-Lepage library offers a wide range of books on fruit trees, fruit shrubs, edible flowers and herbs. Information is also available on the Arbres fruitiers Québec and Espace pour la vie websites.
Important: We invite you to check the contraindications associated with the various plants found in the feeder forest (herbs, so-called medicinal plants, etc.) according to your condition or state of health (pregnant, taking specific medication, etc.) before consuming them.
