  • The wheels of the bin must face your property and the lid must be completely closed.
  • There must be a distance of 50 cm (20 inches) between the bin and the sidewalk, and one metre between the bin and other obstacles (mailbox, fence, carport, snowplow marker, etc.).
  • Be sure to follow the specific collection procedures for each type of collection, otherwise your materials will not be collected.
  • If you forget to collect :
    • Contact Services Brossard at 450 923-6311 or by e-mail at [email protected], before noon the next day to report this oversight. Requests received after this period cannot be processed.
    • Once you’ve made your request, leave your residual materials at the curb (except on weekends), as a truck may come by again. The contractor will collect the waste within 48 working hours of the day of collection.

Container collection

Containers are rented or purchased at the expense of the building owner or condominium association.

Important guidelines

  • Surplus items placed next to containers will not be collected.
  • The container lid must remain closed, and no bulky or large objects may be placed in the container.
  • Access to the container must be free of obstacles (vehicles, bulky items, etc.) and de-iced in winter. Garbage trucks are very heavy and can slide easily.
  • During the winter season, containers, enclosures and storage buildings must be cleared of snow and ice to allow the contractor to remove the container and return it to its original location.
  • Enclosure or storage building doors must be fully open to allow the collection truck to maneuver.
  • If your equipment is fitted with latches or locks, it is important that they are unblocked on collection day so that the operator can open or unlock them.

Types of containers accepted

  • Front-loading containers: 2vc, 3vc, 4vc, 5vc, 6vc and 8 vc;
  • Crane-loaded semi-buried containers (Molok type): 1,800 L, 3,000 L and 5,000 L.

Collection of non-recyclable bulky items (large scraps)

Non-recyclable bulky items, such as mattresses, sofas and carpets, are objects that have reached the end of their useful life. Before dropping them off, check to see if they can be reused, recycled or recouped (e.g., donated to friends and family, or to charity).

Collection methods

Non-recyclable bulky items are included in your regular household waste collection. Place them at the curb, next to your grey bin, on the collection days indicated in your area.

Specific guidelines

  • Old mattresses: to ensure the safety of our collection teams, please bag your mattress in a plastic bag (you can reuse the one from your new mattress). An unbagged mattress will not be collected.
  • Wooden furniture: Wooden furniture left at the curb during regular garbage collection will not be picked up. Please wait until the scheduled collection dates to drop them off at the curb or take them to an ecocenter.

For buildings served by a container

Even if your household waste is collected by container, you are entitled to collection of non-recyclable bulky items.

  • Place your bulky items at the curb (not next to the container) before 7 a.m. on the morning of the scheduled collection day in your area.
  • Consult your local collection calendar for specific dates.

For exempt buildings

  • For homeowners whose residual materials collection is exempt from the City, you can benefit from a non-recyclable bulky items collection once a month.
  • This collection takes place at the same time as the first household waste collection of the month in your area. Consult your local collection calendar for specific dates.

  • Bring proof of residence and a vehicle registration certificate.
  • Make sure your vehicle has a maximum length of 7.5 m, including trailer (if applicable).
  • 12 annual accesses are granted for each residential address in the Longueuil agglomeration.
