We do not make payment arrangements, but you have the option of paying in instalments. On the other hand, interest and penalties will be charged if the due date is exceeded. For further details, please contact Services Brossard by e-mail at [email protected] or by telephone at 450 923-6311.

This rate corresponds to the actual cost of maintaining Brossard’s road network. It allows annual network repairs to be carried out without having to borrow.

You must send us the change request in writing, by e-mail, fax or mail, indicating your first and last name, the address of the property in question, the file number and the information to be changed.

You must go to your online bank account and add “Ville de Brossard” as a supplier or payer. You must then enter the 20-digit “electronic payment reference number” beginning with “2225500000” that appears on the detachable part of your tax account. The payment will be debited from your account on the same day, but it will take approximately 48 to 72 working hours to be received, retroactive to the date of payment.

If you have any difficulties or would like more information about electronic payments, please contact your banking institution directly.

You can download a copy of your tax bill free of charge from the Town’s website by consulting this link: Consultation of a property’s assessment or tax roll.

You can also visit the service counter at City Hall (Services Brossard), at 2001, boulevard de Rome, Brossard. Fees will be charged for this service, according to the current fee schedule.

First of all, you need to check with the seller and the notary to obtain all relevant information about the property you are buying. If you have not received the information from them, this in no way relieves you of the obligation to pay your taxes on time. We therefore invite you to contact Services Brossard, by e-mail at [email protected] or by telephone at 450 923-6311, to inquire about the balance of your file, the next due date and the amount of the payment to be made.

It’s possible that your institution has already sent us information about your file, but you still need to make sure. You can contact Services Brossard by e-mail at [email protected] or by telephone at 450 923-6311.

If your institution still appears on your file, you must contact them or send us a notice indicating that they are no longer responsible for paying your taxes. Please include your name, address and file number, as well as the name of your financial institution.

Please forward the tax bill to the new owner.

If an amount is indicated in the arrears box, it refers to an amount unpaid in the year preceding the tax account. This amount includes interest and penalties as of the1st instalment in February.

We produce annual invoices from mid-December each year. If you have made a payment during this period, the amount in arrears may not be deducted from your bill. To confirm your balance, please contact Services Brossard by e-mail at [email protected] or by telephone at 450 923-6311.

Local or sector allocation taxes are used to repay, over periods ranging from 15 to 30 years, the loans contracted by the Town to pay, in part or in full, for new municipal infrastructures such as sewers, waterworks, paving and street lighting. The cost of the work is apportioned, as the case may be, in proportion to the frontage or surface area of the properties affected by the work. The amount of sectorial taxes shown on your municipal tax bill is the sum of all by-laws affecting your property. It’s important to point out that sectoral taxes vary across the city, as not all new infrastructures were built at the same time. For more information, please contact Services Brossard by e-mail at [email protected] or by telephone at 450 923-6311.

Your property will be subject to the tax sale procedure. The latter could be seized and sold to reimburse unpaid taxes.

Interest accrues on overdue tax payments, plus a penalty. The annual interest rate on arrears is 9% and the annual penalty rate is 5%.

Given the large volume of files that Ville de Brossard has to process, it can take between 48 and 72 business hours, excluding Canada Post delays, before the information is recorded in our computer systems. The best way to check whether your payment has been cashed is to consult your bank statement. However, if you sent us your payment close to the due date, it may have been received by the City after the due date, in which case interest and penalty will be added. To avoid this situation, we invite you to send us your payments as soon as possible by post-dated cheques, or to pre-register electronic payments through your online banking account. In addition, it is your responsibility to check the dates on your cheques to avoid interest and penalties on your file.

If you have sent us post-dated cheques, it may take a few days from the time your cheques are mailed to the time they are recorded in your file, especially during peak periods. To check whether the information has been entered in your file, please contact Services Brossard at [email protected] or 450 923-6311.

To find out the balance of your tax bill, please go to the service counter at City Hall (Services Brossard), 2001, boulevard de Rome, Brossard, with proof of identity, or send an e-mail request with signature to [email protected].

A copy of your tax bill is sufficient for tax or mortgage purposes.
