The importance of cultural mediation
What is it?
Cultural mediation is very important at Ville de Brossard! This refers to a set of actions aimed at facilitating access to the arts and culture for as many people as possible, while encouraging the expression and cultural participation of citizens of different languages, cultures and generations, with a view to social inclusion.
These include projects such as collective creations to be exhibited, or artistic demonstrations or performances involving interaction with citizens.
An essential dual role
Having both an educational and a social role, cultural mediation :
- Encourages discovery, curiosity and critical thinking. It also fights illiteracy and cultural exclusion by making culture more accessible;
- Strengthens social ties, promotes diversity and inclusion, encourages civic engagement and prevents social tensions.
