The Société d’habitation du Québec recommends that tenants who decide to move should start looking for a new home as soon as possible. Several resources are available to help you.
If you’re a tenant planning to move, the Sociétéd’habitation du Québec ( SHQ) recommends that you start looking right away. She offers **advice** on planning your move or renewing your lease.
- If your lease is for 12 months or more, the landlord must notify you of any changes 3 to 6 months before the end of the lease. In the event of a rent increase, discussion remains the best solution, but if an agreement cannot be reached, recourse to the Administrative Housing Tribunal is possible.
