Would you like to save up to $7,500 on an environmental project?

For the 6th year, the Ville de Brossard is presenting a grant program to encourage community initiatives in favor of the environment and sustainable development.

  • Objective : to submit projects that generate greater citizen involvement and make a significant contribution to the environment and sustainable development of the region.
  • Who : citizens’ groups, organizations, institutions.
  • Grant : maximum budget of $7,500 per project.
  • When : Projects must be submitted between April 22 and August 16, 2026.
  • Résultats visés : améliorer la résilience du territoire et la qualité de vie de la population. Plus spécifiquement, les projets devront répondre à un ou plusieurs des quatre (4) enjeux identifiés dans la Politique environnementale 2025 soit :
    • Biodiversity and ecosystems
    • Resilient living environments
    • Ecological footprint
    • Collective commitment

Community involvement and benefit are the anchors of this initiative. Projects can be aimed at improving the location of their activities, a neighborhood park, a schoolyard, a parking lot, and so on.

Financial assistance is subject to the submission of all required documents. Any application deemed incomplete will be refused and returned to the applicant.


Biodiversity and ecosystems

    • Promote biodiversity in the region by creating pollinator gardens and installing insect hotels, nesting boxes, etc.
    • Promote urban agriculture by setting up a collective or community garden on private land.
    • Stabilize banks to limit erosion and improve water quality by planting shrubs and herbaceous plants with strong root systems and rhizomes.

Resilient living environments

    • Reduce urban heat islands by demineralizing a site and planting large-scale trees (parking lots, “dead zones”, etc.) or vertical vegetation, etc.
    • Improve stormwater management by disconnecting gutters and creating a rain garden.
    • Encourage active mobility by installing bicycle racks.

Collective commitment

    • Any project that has a beneficial impact on the quality of the environment by reducing nuisances and improving urban health, such as stream cleanups, woodland cleanups, etc.

Ecological footprint

    • Valorize residual materials and reduce landfill by renting a leaf shredder to make compost or mulch, or by creating a system for sharing goods and services.

Program details

Financing

Through this funding program, the city has set aside $25,000 for projects that meet the program’s objectives. This grant can finance 100% of a project, up to a maximum of $7,500. The deadline for submitting projects is August 16, 2026.

12 months following project acceptance

Disbursement of funds

Financial assistance will be paid as follows:

  • First payment (80%): within 30 days of signing the agreement;
  • Second payment (20%): upon receipt of final report.

Eligible and non-eligible costs

Expenses eligible for the financing program include :

  • Costs related to the purchase of materials, equipment and space rental, and transportation related to the project;
  • Professional fees;

The following expenses are not eligible for financial assistance:

  • Purchase of specialized tools or equipment for personal use;
  • Operating costs of the organizations involved in the project;
  • Organizing a fundraising event;
  • Financial support for human resources ;
  • Any activity that does not comply with regulations.

In order to be admissible, costs must have been incurred after the agreement was signed, unless otherwise agreed between the City and the bidder.

    • The project must be carried out on the Brossard territory;
    • The landowner must apply for the grant. In the case of tenants, written approval from the landlord must be attached to the application;
    • All authorizations required to implement the project must be obtained in advance;
    • The applicant undertakes to carry out the project and may not transfer it or delegate its authority to a third party;
    • Any modification to the project must be approved in advance by the City;
    • Financial assistance must be used solely for the purposes of the project;
    • If applicable, the applicant must identify the Ville de Brossard as a success partner in all communications related to the project;
    • The applicant must submit the final project report, including the financial statement, within 30 days of completion of the work.

The final project report should contain the following elements:

    • Description of the project and objectives (achieved or not);
    • Results obtained, recommendations and suggested improvements;
    • Customer awareness, if applicable;
    • The real impact of the project in the short, medium and long term;
    • Balance sheet;
    • Photos of activities;
    • A copy of advertising and communication material, if applicable;
    • Success indicators (e.g. number of citizens met, number of trees planted, etc.).
    • Program opening: April 22, 2026

    • Program closure: August 16, 2026

    • Project analysis and evaluation: autumn 2026

    • Disclosure of results to bidders: fall 2026

    • Adoption by city council: fall 2026 to winter 2027

    • Signature of agreements : Upon adoption by the municipal council

    • First payment: 30 working days after signing of agreements

    • Project period: from signing of agreement to submission of final report

    • Final report deadline: Sunday, November 14, 2027
