A new collective agreement has been signed for swimming pool employees.

At the last regular meeting of the municipal council of the City of Brossard, held on November 14, the agreement renewing the collective agreement applying to employees assigned to the swimming pools for the period from January1, 2021 to December 31, 2025, as negotiated between the City of Brossard and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) local 306, was approved.

“I would like to underline the excellent collaboration of the teams involved in the negotiation of the collective agreement for swimming pool employees. What is particularly important to me is the well-being of our employees and the improvement of their working conditions, while respecting the ability of Brossard residents to pay. I am very pleased that we have reached an agreement that reflects the reality of our city and is satisfactory to all parties,” declared Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard.

Here are the main changes to the agreement:

  • Free aquatic complex membership for all aquatic staff;
  • Remuneration for retraining offered internally or by the Lifesaving Society;
  • Compensation for compulsory training periods (3 hours);
  • Salaries maintained (100%) in the event of shift cancellations, with the exception of summer shutdowns to maintain the aquatic complex;
  • Reimbursement of instructor training and certification, and remuneration for the 45-hour internship, when performed in-house;
  • Annual salary increase.

Salary indexations are as follows:

  • 2021: 2.50% + 1.75% flat rate
  • 2022: 2.75% + 3.25% flat rate
  • 2023 : 2,75 %
  • 2024 : 2,50 %
  • 2025 : 2,50 %

The previous collective agreement applicable to swimming pool employees expired on December 31, 2020.
