At yesterday’s municipal council meeting, elected officials were proud to award four (4) grants for various projects submitted by Brossard organizations, citizens’ groups and individuals as part of the Environmental and Sustainable Development Project Grant Program for the year 2023.
The Mayor of Brossard, Doreen Assaad, is delighted with these projects, which testify to the commitment and creativity of Brossard residents: “These environmental and sustainable development initiatives are in line with the city’s strategic vision, which aims to make Brossard a green, innovative and inclusive municipality.”
The projects were selected by the Commission de l’environnement et du développement durable (CEDD). Sophie Allard, President of the CEDD and City Councillor, Sector S, congratulates the successful candidates: “On behalf of the members of the CEDD, I would like to thank all the participants who submitted projects this year. I’m particularly proud to see the diversity of projects proposed and to note that they were suggested by citizens, schools and community organizations alike. This clearly demonstrates our community’s commitment to making Brossard a greener city.
Grants have been awarded for their projects:
- École de la Rose-des-Vents | Green School Project
The project aims to create a green space on the school grounds, planting trees and native plants, installing nesting boxes and bird feeders, creating a vegetable garden, installing a composter, and raising students’ awareness of good environmental practices.
Amount awarded: $7,031
- Le croissant Rainville | Rainville Community Garden
The aim of this project is to create a shared garden to grow fruit and vegetables, and to encourage residents to help and share with each other.

The aim of this grant program is to support environmental and sustainable initiatives. It encourages community participation by financing projects in the residential, educational, industrial, commercial and institutional sectors. It also supports urban agriculture projects, in particular to increase the number of community and shared gardens.
These grants are in addition to the $25,000 also available in direct grants to citizens for other environmental initiatives such as tree planting, water conservation, reusable feminine hygiene products, washable diapers and home composters.
