Yesterday, city council adopted a resolution confirming the addition of the Ville de Brossard’s signature to the Montreal Commitment. This commitment includes 15 concrete actions consistent with the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. The city will therefore take action in three areas: (1) Reducing threats to biodiversity (2) Sharing the benefits of biodiversity (3) Solutions, governance, management and education.
Brossard Mayor Doreen Assaad and Sophie Allard, Chair of the Commission de l’environnement et du développement durable and a municipal councillor, jointly declared: ” By adding our signature to those of several other municipalities, Brossard is sending a strong signal of its intention to pursue its actions to protect biodiversity. Over the past 10 years, we have almost doubled the area of protected natural environments on our territory. We are constantly working to protect species and ecosystems, so it’s only natural for us to make a formal commitment by signing the Montreal Commitment. We want to continue to demonstrate our leadership in environmental action, for the well-being of our citizens and future generations.. “
