Université de Montréal to open new campus in Brossard

13 April 2021 Last update 17/05/2025

By the start of the fall 2022 academic year, Université de Montréal will have a branch in Brossard. The campus will be located in Solar Uniquartier and will be directly linked to the Du Quartier REM station.

A new training and professional development offer will soon be available to the population of the South Shore. The Université de Montréal is moving its Longueuil campus to larger, more modern premises, where it will offer short courses focused on professional development – microprograms, certificates – particularly in the health, social services and language sectors.

The full program will be unveiled in the coming months, and will include credited training courses, continuing education and a cultural offering with lectures from the popular “Les Belles Soirées” series, among others.

Technology as a hallmark

The new premises will occupy two floors of a new building, currently under construction, at 2000 rue de l’Éclipse in Solar Uniquartier, built by Devimco Immobilier. The future 3,500 m2 campus will use technology as a lever for learning. The multi-functional facilities will make it possible to benefit from the advantages of face-to-face, multimodal and hybrid teaching.

It will be designed to encourage active, collaborative learning. The complex will feature virtual reality, self-production and video capture laboratories. But also rooms for active learning, where information technologies will support cognitive strategies.

The Université de Montréal, which has been present in Longueuil since 1999, is expanding its services to the South Shore population.

We firmly believe in lifelong learning, and this campus is designed to better meet the needs of Montérégie residents for professional training in areas such as health, social services and language learning, for which the Université de Montréal is renowned,” explains UdeM Rector Daniel Jutras. This local campus is a fine example of our mission to serve our communities.

The arrival of a Université de Montréal campus in the heart of Brossard is perfectly in line with the unprecedented development of our city and our desire to offer an enriching living environment to our entire population,” says Brossard mayor Doreen Assaad. Providing access to quality higher education is every city’s dream, and we’re delighted to become a magnet for those in search of knowledge,” she continued.

“Economic studies and recently attracted companies confirm that proximity to educational institutions is a highly important factor in choosing a business location. The presence of the Université de Montréal in Brossard has been very positively received, as it not only reinforces the attractiveness of the Longueuil agglomeration, but also offers easier access to the talent pool so coveted by our companies,” explains Julie Ethier, DEL’s General Manager.
