Tightening of Sanitary Measures | The Ville de Brossard adjusts its service and activity offer | The start of the aquatic activity session is postponed to February 4.

20 December 2021 Last update 17/05/2025

Following the tightening of sanitary measures announced last night by the Quebec government, the Ville de Brossard has once again had to adjust its service offering, particularly for its aquatic activities. The Georgette-Lepage library in Brossard will not be affected by the new measures.

Aquatic activities – winter session postponed and capacity reduced

Faced with new health regulations, including a maximum of 25 participants per indoor activity, the City’s biggest adjustment concerns directed aquatic courses. In concrete terms, this means postponing the start of the winter session by one month, to February 4. In the meantime, in January, some class slots can be converted to open swims, while respecting the return to a lower capacity of the Complexe aquatique.

Indoor free activities: return of skating on reservation

Most of the open-air activities, such as ping-pong, badminton, pickleball and fitness classes, were already operated by the Ville de Brossard at 50% capacity, and required reservations. This procedure ensured equitable use of the facilities and complied with the ridership standards required by the Public Health Department. So there’s no change here.

However, reservations are now mandatory for free skating at Michel-Normandin arena and Bell sports complex. To reserve a time slot, visit skating.

Activities organized by partner organizations

The city has recommended that its partner organizations also postpone the start of the winter session by one month. Each organization will make its own decision, even cancelling in certain cases. Brossard residents who have registered for a recreational, community, educational or cultural activity organized by one of the city’s partners must contact that organization directly. To find out more, click on the activity in question at brossard.ca/activites and you’ll be taken directly to the organization’s website, if there is one.

REMINDER: vaccination passport mandatory for all non-essential activities

In accordance with the government update of November 15, anyone aged 13 and over who participates in or attends an indoor free sports activity, or a cultural or community activity organized by Ville de Brossard or its partners, will be required to show proof of vaccination, as well as an identity card. Previously, only recreational and sporting activities were subject to the law.

Access to City Hall

Brossard City Hall will be closed from December 24 to January 4 inclusively. During this period, Services Brossard can be reached by telephone at 450 923-6311.

When the holidays return, as is currently the case, the Services Brossard and Service de l’urbanisme counters will remain open by appointment only.
