The Georgette Lepage Brossard Library in the spotlight: workshops, lectures and discoveries

Culture 06 October 2025 Last update 24/10/2025

Public Library Week – October 18 to 25

Ville de Brossard proudly marks the 27 e Semaine des bibliothèques publiques du Québec, which runs from October 18 to 25 under the theme Les biblios, phares dans nos communautés. Through its library, the town reaffirms its commitment to providing a place of culture and knowledge, accessible to all.

Public libraries are more than just a place to borrow books: they’re an anchor, offering a world of knowledge, a variety of services and a safe space to learn, create and exchange. In an age marked by misinformation and technological upheaval, they remain reliable and inclusive reference points for navigating an ever-changing world.

This year, Quebecers are invited to discover the wealth of services offered by public libraries, both online and in person. The week is also an opportunity to highlight “their powers” as sources of knowledge, safe havens and guardians of intellectual freedom. At a time when misinformation is on the rise and the challenges seem numerous, libraries embody hope, a beacon of light to guide us safely along the path to reliable, validated information. Like lighthouses, libraries help us navigate through the fog.

“As mayor, I consider the Bibliothèque de Brossard Georgette-Lepage to be a true pillar of our quality of life. It reflects the vision of the City of Brossard: a city that values knowledge, innovation and living together. As we prepare for its 50th anniversary in 2026, we will continue to develop it so that it remains a lively and accessible place, where every citizen finds his or her place.”
