At yesterday’s meeting, the municipal council voted to acquire the Maison Brossard on Chemin des Prairies. The transaction is worth $2.4 million. In 2020, the Maison Brossard building and site were classified by the Minister of Culture and Communications as a heritage building, making it part of the Répertoire du patrimoine culturel du Québec. The city has also modified the zoning to preserve the historic character of the site.
“Today, we are celebrating the acquisition of this heritage building, which bears witness to our history and identity as a community. All the efforts that went into this acquisition demonstrate our willingness and commitment to preserve Brossard’s cultural heritage. It’s a wonderful acquisition for the city,” declared Mayor Doreen Assaad.
Although the future vocation of this building has not yet been determined, the city wishes to emphasize its commitment to involving the citizens of Brossard in the various stages that will follow the acquisition.
Details will follow and will be available in Brossard.
