Brossard, March 12, 2020 – In order to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus, and in compliance with the recommendations made by the Quebec government, the City of Brossard announces that it is suspending, until further notice, all activities scheduled on its calendar, including activities in the pools at Lucille-Teasdale and Antoine Brossard schools, as well as at Complexe Bell. The city is also closing access to its buildings, including city hall, the library, the Michel Normandin arena, community centers and the Centre socioculturel Alphonse-Lepage. “It’s our duty to look after the health of the population and that of our employees. So we’ve taken steps to ensure that we do our part to reduce opportunities for the disease to spread,” said Brossard Mayor Doreen Assaad.
For the well-being of employees and the public
The City has also followed the measures put in place by the government, placing all employees who have traveled abroad since February 28 under 14 days of home isolation. Employees will be able to telework to continue providing essential services to citizens. Brossard residents are invited to use the online services (permit applications, requests, animal licenses, etc.) available at Brossard or contact Services Brossard by phone at 450-923-6311 to limit their travel to City Hall.
Mayor goes into administrative segregation
Although not experiencing any symptoms associated with the disease, Mayor Doreen Assaad decided to place herself in isolation for a period of 14 days following a trip to the United States. “We’ve asked all City employees returning from abroad to go into preventive isolation, and I’m no exception. I would like to reassure the public that this is a precautionary measure and that I am doing well, as are the other members of my family who travelled with me. I would like to make it clear that I will continue to carry out all my duties from a distance,” emphasizes the mayor.
Simple rules to protect yourself
Québec’s public health department invites the population to take simple hygiene measures to protect themselves from the disease, such as :
Wash your hands frequently;
Dispose of tissues promptly after use;
Cough into his elbow.
In addition, the provincial government is asking citizens to cancel all non-mandatory events, and to avoid gatherings of more than 250 people held inside buildings. Special attention is also requested for vulnerable people, such as the elderly and those with flu-like symptoms. Finally, those who are able to work from home are strongly encouraged to opt for this method of working.

Brossard, March 12, 2020 – With the aim of reducing coronavirus spread risks, the Ville de Brossard has announced that it is suspending all its scheduled activities until further notice, in compliance with recommendations made by the government of Quebec. This includes activities in the swimming pools at Lucille-Teasdale and Antoine-Brossard schools as well as at the Bell Sports Complex. The city is also closing access to public buildings such as city hall, the library, Aréna Michel-Normandin, community centers and Center Socioculturel Alphonse-Lepage. If a visit to city hall is deemed necessary, an appointment must be made by emailing [email protected] or calling 450-923-6311.

Mayor Places Herself in Precautionary Self-Isolation
While not experiencing any symptoms associated with the disease, Mayor Doreen Assaad has decided to place herself in self-isolation for a period of 14 days, following a visit to the United States.
“We have asked all city employees returning from other countries to put themselves in precautionary self-isolation, and I’m no exception. I’d like to reassure the public that this is purely a preventive measure. I’m feeling fine, as are the other members of my family who traveled with me. I would also like to note that I will continue to perform all my duties as mayor on a remote basis,” the Mayor explained.
Simple Guidelines for Protecting Yourself
Quebec’s public health department encourages people to implement the following simple hygienic measures to protect themselves against the disease:

Dispose of tissues rapidly after using them
Cough into your elbow
Furthermore, the provincial government is asking citizens to cancel all non-essential events and avoid indoor gatherings with more than 250 attendees. It has also asked people to take special care regarding vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and individuals exhibiting flu-like symptoms. Finally, those able to telecommute are strongly recommended to work from home.
