27 October 2023 Last update 17/05/2025

Students from Lucille-Teasdale International School met the Mayor at City Hall on October 24.

Secondary5 students from École internationale Lucille-Teasdale visited Brossard City Hall on October 24 to learn more about the role of elected municipal officials and the city’s various departments. Nearly thirty young people met with the mayor in the town council chambers.

The meeting was organized in collaboration with the president of the student group, who wanted to strengthen the civic commitment of her classmates. In addition to learning more about the workings of a municipality, students had the chance to play the role of an elected official at a simulated municipal council meeting. Sitting in the elected representatives’ chairs, the students had to present their arguments and vote for or against the awarding of certain contracts. Antoine Assaf, city councillor for sector R, where the school is located, was on hand to greet the students and wish them a most rewarding encounter.

“What a pleasure it is to welcome these future voters to City Hall. Civic engagement is an essential part of any community. I was delighted to have the chance to share with them my personal experience as mayor and to offer them the opportunity to better understand the role of a municipal council,” said Mayor Doreen Asaad.
