Ville de Brossard inaugurated Santerre Park on September 7. The event was attended by the Mayor of Brossard, Doreen Assaad, accompanied by members of the municipal council and local residents specially invited for the occasion.
Some 50 people were on hand to discover the new facilities and talk with elected representatives. A light snack was offered to the public, and a balloon-carving clown was on hand to delight the children.
This neighborhood park has been completely revamped. It features play areas for children aged 18 months to 12 years, a ninja course, swings, adapted furniture, rest areas and edible plants. The park’s lighting has also been improved to make it safer.
The mayor said she was delighted that so many people had responded to the invitation, despite the cloudy weather. “Modernizing parks is essential to ensuring that facilities remain accessible and safe for all, and that our neighborhoods are attractive to families. When we revitalize a park, we strive not only to bring it up to date, but also to enhance the canopy and biodiversity zones, and Santerre Park is an excellent example of this. The improvement and greening of local places like parks is essential in the opinion of the members of the municipal council, as they provide numerous physical and mental health benefits,” emphasized Ms. Assaad.
