The mayor denounces REM’s failure to communicate with users during breakdowns.
The mayor of Brossard, Doreen Assaad, condemns the failure of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) to communicate with its users during breakdowns. “Public transit users have the right to know the status of the situation, the estimated time it will take to restore service, and the alternatives available to them to get to their destination. This is why we are asking the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility and Deputy Premier, Geneviève Guilbault, to intervene and demand a communication plan for users in the event of breakdowns, and above all to enforce it,” states Doreen Assaad.
The mayor of Brossard is also disappointed that, after three months of running-in, this type of event is still occurring. “We were accommodating for the first three months of commissioning, but now I expect an improvement in service reliability and customer experience,” Assaad emphasizes.
Ville de Brossard would also like to make the Quebec government aware of the need to adequately fund the public transit system as a whole, in order to offer users quality bus service to the REM, among other things, and to avoid eroding their confidence.
