Update: September 30, 2025 – 3 p.m.
✅ Preventive boil water advisory lifted
The preventive boil-water advisory for the entire Brossard territory, issued at 8 p.m. on September 27, has now been lifted.
The Ville de Longueuil informs the population of the borough of Greenfield Park and the Le Moyne sector of Longueuil, as well as the towns of Brossard and Saint-Lambert, that a preventive boil water advisory will be in effect on September 27, starting at 8 p.m. With a minimum duration of 48 hours, this precautionary boil water advisory will be issued due to a first phase of planned work at the Le Royer drinking water production plant, located on Riverside Street in Saint-Lambert.
To carry out this work, the Le Royer plant will have to be shut down, and the sectors normally supplied by this plant (borough of Greenfield Park, Le Moyne sector, towns of Brossard and Saint-Lambert) will be served by the other drinking water plants, Louise-Gravel and Mario-Petrone.
The planned work involves replacing valves and inspecting a main pipe at the plant outlet. These interventions are essential to guarantee the reliability of the network and secure the water supply to the towns and sectors served by the Le Royer plant. The city will also be replacing a flowmeter to meet the requirements of the Quebec government’s Stratégie d’économie d’eau potable, among others.
This work also involves reversing the flow of water in major pipes, which may affect water quality, necessitating the issue of a precautionary boil-water advisory.

For the sectors affected by the work, the repercussions and instructions to be followed are as follows:
- Avis d’ébullition préventif pour une durée minimale de 48 heures.
- Boil the water for at least one minute before use.
- Consult the Boil Water Advisory or Drinking Water Ban web page for further advice.
- Potential episodes of colored water
- Let the water run until clear, then boil for one minute before use.
- Possible drop in water pressure
- There could be a drop in water pressure, particularly in high-rise homes (4th floor and above) in the borough of Greenfield Park and in the Le Moyne sector of Longueuil. Before 8 p.m. on September 27, affected homes are advised to stock up on water (for 1 to 2 days, about 2 to 3 liters per person).

During this first phase of work, which begins on the evening of September 27, the population of Longueuil is invited to reduce its water use to help maintain a sufficient quantity of water for the entire system. Work is scheduled for completion on Monday, September 29.
