Plan particulier d’urbanisme centre-ville | Brossard invites its citizens to an open house to discover and comment on the next PPU

01 June 2022 Last update 17/05/2025

Ville de Brossard will be holding an open house on Wednesday, June 15, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Centre socioculturel Alphonse-Lepage, to present the preliminary orientations of the downtown special planning program (PPU). The people of Brossard are invited to take part in this activity, which is part of a long-term participatory process designed to involve citizens in all the key stages of the elaboration of the development vision for the future downtown area.

A foretaste of the future downtown

The preliminary directions that will be shared at the Open House have been developed using data gathered during previous consultative activities.
They provide a first glimpse of what this part of the Brussel region could look like in a few years’ time.

Participants will be able to share their impressions of the elements presented at the open house. These comments will enable us to make the necessary adjustments to the proposed orientations so that the PPU and the bylaws that will implement it reflect the expectations of the population as a whole.

Next steps

Drafting of the PPU and implementing regulations is scheduled for this summer, with a view to formal adoption in autumn 2022. Following adoption, the Town will hold a public meeting on the draft by-laws adopted, as prescribed by the Act respecting land use planning and development. Only then will the city adopt the final bylaws, which will come into force in 2023.

A look back

The open house was the next step in a process that included several milestones aimed at involving the population in a participatory process around a structuring project. To date, Ville de Brossard has :

  • a general public survey (April 30 to May 17, 2021);
  • a virtual information evening (September 15, 2021);
  • ideation workshops (November 24, 2021).

In parallel with these activities, the City launched the Imaginons notre centre-ville podcast to present the different sections of the territory covered by the PPU centre-ville. This tool offered a new way of exploring part of Brossard’s history, while giving listeners the chance to deepen their knowledge of the project’s challenges and opportunities.

The City of Brossard is assisted by the firm Atelier urbain in the PPU revision project. This project is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) and the Programme d’aide financière pour la planification de milieux de vie durables (PMVD) of the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation. This program meets the objectives of the Quebec government’s Plan for a Green Economy 2030. Detailed information about the revision of the PPU and the previous stages of the process is available downtown.
