The municipal councillor for district 4 (sectors P-V) will act as deputy mayor for an indefinite period.
At the public meeting held on August 24, Brossard’s municipal council appointed Patrick Langlois, municipal councillor for district 4 (P-V sectors), to act as deputy mayor. This appointment took effect on August 24, 2022, for an indefinite period.
The deputy mayor has and exercises the powers of the mayor when the latter is absent from the territory or is unable to fulfill the duties of her office. In this capacity, Mr. Langlois may be called upon to submit to his colleagues any information and suggestions relating to the well-being and progress of the Brussells community for adoption by the Council of by-laws, resolutions, obligations or contracts granted by the City. In addition, he can ensure that by-law provisions are faithfully and impartially enforced.
Last but not least, the Deputy Mayor may also be called upon to maintain order and decorum by presiding over a Town Council meeting, or to address various speakers connected with the Town.
In accordance with the Cities and Towns Act, a municipality is required to have a deputy mayor at all times.
