This morning, Brossard Mayor Doreen Assaad officially inaugurated the new Espace jeunes at the Georgette-Lepage Brossard Library, in the company of Louis Lemieux, MP for Saint-Jean and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Culture and Communications, members of the municipal council, city staff and dignitaries.
“It’s a wonderful project that was completed on time and on budget, despite the current pandemic situation. It’s the fruit of a fine collaboration between several city departments, supported by the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications. L’Espace jeunes is designed to meet the needs of children aged 0 to 12. Children can enjoy a multitude of technological tools and new book collections in an inviting and, above all, stimulating environment. Come and experience the enchantment,” declared the Mayor of Brossard.
Open to the public for the past two weeks, the Espace jeunes has several zones, including the Agora de l’arbre enchanté with puppets and early-learning games, the Atelier, the Quai du savoir, the Techno equipped with tools such as smart tables, iPads, a wall of light creation, floor projection and surprising reading areas such as wall tires and cylinders. The children’s collection is once again available for loan.
This project was made possible thanks to a cultural development agreement of nearly $400,000 from the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec. The overall value of the project is approximately $1.5 million.
