Ville de Brossard is inviting residents to celebrate with their neighbours on Saturday, June 4, for Neighbours’ Day. After a one-year hiatus and a year in virtual mode due to the pandemic, the event, organized by Espace Muni, is back in its traditional format.
Neighbors’ Day, created in France in 1999 by an elected municipal official and celebrated in Quebec since 2006, aims to encourage citizens to get together each year for a specially organized activity between neighbors, on the first Saturday in June. Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard and Chair of Espace Muni’s Board of Directors, enthusiastically welcomes the return of this festive and unifying event: “It’s always a joy for me to visit the various neighbourhood parties. After more than two years of the pandemic, Neighbours’ Day is a great opportunity to reconnect with your long-time neighbors and forge links with those you know less well. I look forward to seeing you there!
Whether it’s a picnic, a 5 à 7, a barbecue, a friendly competition or a family party, the possibilities are endless! A number of articles and tools are available to citizens wishing to organize an event. The Espace Muni toolbox, with which you can download promotional items to e-mail, print, display or distribute, is now available on the Town’s website. You’ll also find plenty of tips and tricks to show you’re a party pro!
It will also be possible to borrow tables and apply to the city for a temporary street closure. Citizens wishing to organize a gathering are invited to register no later than May 25, by contacting Services Brossard at 450 923-6311 or by consulting Neighbors’ Day.
