28 March 2024 Last update 17/05/2025

Whether you’re organizing a picnic, a 5 à 7 or a barbecue, any idea is a good one for building ties between neighbors.

Ville de Brossard is encouraging its residents to take part in Neighbours’ Day on Saturday, June1. Now in its 18thyear , this event organized by Espace MUNI has become a must for getting to know your neighbors, creating bonds of solidarity and even friendship.

Whether you’re organizing a picnic, a 5 à 7, a barbecue, a competition or a family party, any idea is a good one for building ties between neighbors. The concept is simple: local residents organize a neighborhood party in their own image. By taking part in Neighborhood Day, formerly known as Fête des voisins, the whole community benefits. In addition to learning more about your neighbors, this event brings people of all generations living next door together, encourages mutual aid and increases the sense of security and belonging in your community.

Mayor Doreen Assaad will attend some holiday gatherings to interact with community members. “It’s always a great pleasure for me to take part in these unifying events, which give me the chance to talk with people from the community in a friendly, festive atmosphere. Seeing the happy looks on people’s faces and witnessing the creation of new friendships fills me with happiness. I feel privileged to chair the board of Espace MUNI, the organization that coordinates Neighbours’ Day, and I hope to have the opportunity to do so for many years to come,” says Ms. Assaad.
