Memorial Day for the victims of COVID-19 | Half-masting of flags at Brossard City Hall

10 March 2021 Last update 17/05/2025

This day marks the 1st anniversary of the WHO’s declaration of pandemic status.

Like the provincial government, the City of Brossard will fly its flags at half-mast at City Hall tomorrow, March 11, in memory of the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic. The day marks the first anniversary of the declaration of a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO).

“The sad anniversary of this health crisis gives us the opportunity to pay tribute to those afflicted by the disease or who have lost loved ones, and to show our solidarity with all those who remain on the front line, every day, in the fight against COVID-19. It is important for the brossardoise community to join its voice to that of the entire population of Quebec to commemorate 12 months of sacrifice and resilience, and to look forward to better days,” emphasizes Mayor Doreen Assaad.

The public is invited to observe a minute’s silence at 1pm on March 11, in memory of the victims of COVID-19. As of today, the cumulative death toll in Quebec stands at 10,493.
