Ville de Brossard announces the return of its road safety awareness campaign, “Ralentissez. It’s fragile.

Ville de Brossard announces the return of its road safety awareness campaign, “Ralentissez. It’s fragile”, for a second consecutive year. This initiative is an absolute priority to enhance the safety of all, especially the vulnerable.

“The safety of our citizens is an issue we take very seriously. Every action counts in making our streets safer. This awareness campaign and other actions on the ground are at the heart of our strategy to succeed in reducing the number of accidents involving vulnerable people,” says Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard.

The campaign will run in two phases: the first from May 27 to June 23, and the second from August 26 to November 15, 2024. In addition to reiterating the key messages of caution, the city is innovating this year with several noteworthy actions:

  • Distribution of lawn signs available at Services Brossard, allowing residents to signal their commitment to road safety directly from their homes.
  • 500 “Je sécurise ma rue” citizen kits available at Services Brossard and in digital version on the brossard.ca website, to encourage local road safety initiatives.
  • Installation of banners and posters in local parks, as well as special pavement markings to reinforce safety zones for seniors and children.
  • Production of awareness-raising videos and publication on social media
  • Organization of a conference/workshop on road safety during Young at Heart Week.

“This campaign reflects our ongoing commitment to road safety and our desire to actively involve every member of our community. Through awareness and education, we can all contribute to creating a safer environment for our families,” adds Stéphanie Quintal, City Councillor, Sector A, and Chair of the Communications and Information Systems Committee.

“We are renewing and expanding our efforts to reach out to every citizen. Together, we can significantly reduce accidents and protect our children, our seniors, indeed, all those who share our roads,” explains Patrick Langlois, municipal councillor, P-V sectors, and chairman of the Sustainable Mobility Committee.

Ville de Brossard invites all residents to actively participate in this campaign, to share information and to adopt safe driving habits. Every gesture counts in building a safer community for all.
