The Grande marche, supported by the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie, is back across the province for its 9th edition. Brossard is one of 106 cities and municipalities in Quebec to organize a Grande marche.
The Mayor of Brossard, Doreen Assaad, is inviting residents to take part in the event in large numbers: “We look forward to seeing you on October 14, for an inclusive and unifying health walk. I can’t wait to see you on the trails, to feel your energy and to see the wonder of young and old alike at the sight of the decorations and entertainment.”
The public is invited to register at onmarche.com for a chance to win one of 50 Mammut-branded Grand marcheur jackets, and to feel the pulse of the event.
Brossard program on October 14
In Brossard, the start of La Grande marche is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Grand Parc urbain pavilion. Walkers are invited to join us for a free 3km stroll around the Grand Parc Urbain site. Participants are encouraged to don their best disguises and soak up the Halloween atmosphere of the animated course. Departures and entertainment will run continuously until 8 pm.
Organized in collaboration with the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ) and with the participation of Rio Tinto and the Quebec government, La Grande marche attracted 107,241 walkers across Quebec last year, including more than 3,000 in Brossard, a figure that Pierre Lavoie hopes to match and even surpass: “It’s the 15th anniversary of the Grand défi this year, and we couldn’t be happier about how far we’ve come. At the outset, we had an ambitious project to make Quebec a healthier society. Today, we still have a long way to go, but we’re on the right track. Events like La Grande marche are a step in the right direction, because everyone can take part: parents, grandparents, children, solo or in a group. I hope Quebec will join us in huge numbers.”

A joint initiative of the FMOQ and the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie
As part of their partnership with Le Grand défi, members of the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec are giving their patients a prescription to encourage them to lead a more active lifestyle, in particular by taking part in La Grande marche.
