Ville de Brossard suspends its fall session of physical, aquatic and cultural activities

Brossard, October 6, 2020 – Government authorities yesterday announced a strengthening of health measures in the red zone, which includes Brossard, for the education and higher education networks, as well as for the sports community. As a result, the city has had to suspend its fall activity session until October 28, in order to comply with new directives from the Public Health Department.

The government has announced that all group sports and leisure activities, competitions, matches and organized events will be banned. Consequently, all those registered for activities, whether offered by the City or one of its partner organizations, will be contacted over the next few days to confirm the suspension of the session, until further notice.

Free activities such as skating, swimming, climbing, badminton or pickleball are also suspended. However, it is possible to continue playing free outdoor singles tennis until October 25, provided you reserve in advance on the city’s website at brossard.ca/tennis. It should also be noted that these new measures do not affect the personal assistance and drop-in daycare services provided by local organizations.

Park play areas, the dog park and community gardens are always accessible, in compliance with current hygiene and distancing measures. For the skate park, fencing will be installed and staff will be on hand to limit access to 10 people at a time. In addition, the community gardens will naturally close on November 6, until next spring.

It’s also always possible to stretch your legs in one of the area’s many parks, by strolling the multi-purpose trails or getting active on the training circuits in Bernini, Saint-Laurent, Radisson and Grand Parc urbain parks, while respecting the recommended physical distance and avoiding crowding.

Reminder – The library offers a contactless loan service

Interior access to the Georgette-Lepage Brossard Library is prohibited until further notice. This is why the City has taken over the contactless loan service.
