Ville de Brossard suspends physical, aquatic and cultural activities planned for fall

Brossard, October 6, 2020 – Government authorities yesterday announced a tightening of sanitary measures in the red zone, of which Brossard is a part, for educational institutions of all levels and the sports sector. As a result, the city has been forced to suspend its fall session activities until October 28, in order to comply with new directives from the Public Health Department.

The government has announced that all collective sports and recreational activities, competitions, matches and other organized activities will be cancelled. Consequently, anyone registered for these activities, whether offered by the City or one of its partner organizations, will be contacted over the next few days to confirm the suspension of the session until further notice.

Unorganized recreational activities such as skating, swimming, climbing, badminton and pickleball are also suspended. However, it is still possible to play recreational singles tennis outdoors until October 25, provided you reserve in advance on the city’s website at brossard.ca/tennis . Please note that the new measures have no impact on personal care activities or on the drop-in daycare centers offered by municipal organizations.

Park play areas, the dog park and community gardens remain accessible, as long as hygiene and distance measures are respected. At the skatepark, fencing will be installed and staff will be on hand to limit access to ten people at a time. It should also be noted that the community gardens will close as scheduled on November 6 until next spring.

It’s also possible to stretch your legs in one of the municipality’s many parks, stroll along one of its multifunctional trails or work out on the training circuits in the Grand Parc Urbain or in Bernini, Saint-Laurent or Radisson parks, while respecting the recommended physical distance and avoiding crowds.

Reminder: Contactless loan service offered by the library

Access to the Georgette-Lepage library in Brossard is prohibited until further notice. For this reason, the City has reinstated the contactless loan service.
