Humanitarian crisis in Ukraine | Brossard to double citizens’ donations to the Red Cross Relief Fund

Ville de Brossard invites citizens to give generously.

The Ville de Brossard has created a page dedicated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Relief Fund on the Canadian Red Cross website, and invites citizens to give generously by making a donation by April 30. The City, for its part, is committed to doubling the contributions received, up to a maximum of $25,000.

“On behalf of the members of the municipal council, I invite all citizens to contribute to this Red Cross relief fund to help the Ukrainian people. I know that the people of Brossard are generous, and I’m counting on them to help us support efforts on the ground in the face of this humanitarian crisis that concerns the entire planet”, said Mayor Doreen Assaad.

To date, more than 3.3 million people have fled the country, while 18 million are thought to be affected inside Ukraine. Conservative UN figures as of March 18 show that at least 59 children have died since the start of the conflict, which has claimed the lives of at least 816 civilians and injured more than 1,333 since February 24.

Red Cross teams on the ground in Ukraine and neighboring countries continue to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected. At border crossings and in major cities, this invaluable support includes food, water, clothing and hygiene kits, first aid training, medical supplies and 24-hour healthcare, including psychosocial support.
