As part of Earth Day, the City of Brossard is launching a number of eco-responsible product purchasing programs.
On the occasion of the 51st Earth Day, Ville de Brossard announces the launch of a variety of programs that will enable Brossard residents to benefit from subsidies on the purchase of various products. Citizens will be able to combine business with pleasure by taking advantage of four different programs designed to help them save money when they adopt new habits that benefit the environment.
Subsidy programs to combine ecology and economy
The timing couldn’t be better to unveil these incentives, which are perfectly aligned with Earth Day’s mission to offer tools that encourage concrete action to reduce our impact on the environment,” said Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard. With these programs, we are giving ourselves concrete means to consume eco-responsibly and reduce our ecological footprint,” she added.
In addition to offering new programs that promote urban agriculture, source reduction and the enhancement of forest cover on the territory, the city is keen to support local purchasing. As a result, eligible amounts for several programs will be increased when purchases are made in a Brossard-based business.

A look back at the 2020 – 2021 Environmental Action Plan
The city is taking advantage of this day to take stock of its many environmental achievements over the past year. Of a total of 40 actions in the 2020 – 2021 Environmental Action Plan, 30 have been completed in recent months, including :
- Adoption of the Urban Agriculture Policy and the Urban Forestry Strategic Plan.
- Monarch-friendly city” certification.
- Identification of strategies and actions to increase access to watercourses.
- Elaboration and presentation of the development concept for the Biopark reception site.
- Planting 470 additional trees in public spaces, for a total of 1,123 trees and 4,000 shrubs and perennials.
- Drawing up a local travel plan to consolidate the cycling and pedestrian network.
- A $50,000 grant for a Climate Change Adaptation Plan.
After all these achievements, the city continues its commitment to enhancing and improving the green spaces on its territory, with the aim of increasing Brossard’s forest cover. For example, the city will carry out reforestation work in the Bois de Brossard in collaboration with Projet REM, planting around 3,000 trees.
In addition, in collaboration with Nature-Action Québec, Brossard will develop an agricultural meadow (5 hectares) and plant fruit bushes.
(1 hectare). This renaturalization project presents a rare opportunity to create quality habitat for endangered species of country birds. Finally, in addition to distributing hundreds of trees to citizens as part of Arbour Day, a sum of $37,100 has been allocated for tree planting in areas most affected by heat islands.
