Brossard, July 30, 2019 – A gas leak occurred during construction work on the Quartier viaduct this morning and required the evacuation of employees from businesses near the incident. No one was affected by the leak. A 100-meter perimeter was quickly created around the area to ensure the safety of local citizens and employees.
The agglomération de Longueuil fire department, together with other partners such as the agglomération de Longueuil police department and Energir (gaz metro), took the necessary steps to plug the leak. Note that the operation could last several hours.
Car traffic and public transport are currently prohibited in the area. Temporary signage is installed to redirect pedestrians and motorists.
