Brossard designed a questionnaire to help respondents find the tree of choice for their taste, their space and our climate.
With the arrival of fine weather, many Brossardites will be taking advantage of the opportunity to do some landscaping. For those tempted to add a new tree to their property, the City has designed a questionnaire that will enable respondents to determine which tree will be best suited to their taste, space and local climate.
5 questions, 2 minutes and you’re done!
The Arbre de rêve questionnaire consists of just five questions that assess respondents’ preferences, the level of care they wish to give their tree, the space they have available on their property and the amount of sunlight it receives. Based on this information, those who complete the questionnaire will receive their forest profile, ranging from fruit to flowering, large trees, conifers and shade trees. In all, 20 different species are on offer for those wishing to add a new touch of greenery to their landscaping. Those interested in completing the questionnaire can do so by visiting brossard.ca/tree.
A financial boost for planting
Since April 22, residents of homes built before 2002 can benefit from a subsidy of up to $75 for the purchase of their first tree to be planted in their front yard. This monetary incentive is part of the city’s 2020-2021 Environmental Action Plan, which aims to increase the urban canopy. Terms and conditions for this subsidy program are available at brossard.ca/subsidy.
