The Brossard public works team was able to count on the support of scout and cadet squadrons.

For Earth Day, the Brossard public works team was able to count on the support of scout and cadet squadrons to clean up parks and green spaces, and collect waste.

On April 22, the big chore kicked off at the Grand Parc Urbain. Some 30 young scouts from the 51st Brossard Scout Group, accompanied by a supervisor, joined forces with the employees on hand to give the park and its trails a facelift. Around 30 bags of garbage were filled, for an estimated total of 0.3 T of material collected.

Then, on April 30, cadets from 898 Optimiste Brossard Squadron followed suit. Thanks to the hard work of over 180 cadets, the clean-up continued in the city’s other parks and green spaces. More than 0.6 T of waste was collected at the end of this productive day.

“The Ville de Brossard would like to extend its warmest thanks to all the participants who made this initiative such a success. In addition to beautifying the city, this garbage pick-up had a positive environmental impact, preventing a significant amount of garbage from ending up in our waterways. The entire population of Brossard has benefited, and can now enjoy the return of fine weather in clean green spaces,” declared Brossard Mayor Doreen Assaad.
