A status report has been submitted in connection with the mandate awarded in summer 2022 to the Chaire industrielle en eau potable (CIEP).
At the August 22 municipal council meeting, a status report was presented on the mandate awarded to Polytechnique Montréal’s Chaire industrielle en eau potable (CIEP) in the summer of 2022. The purpose of this mandate was to shed light on the circumstances that led to the issuance of boil water advisories throughout the territory in 2021.
CIEP, which is headed by two world-renowned experts in water treatment research, carried out a rigorous analysis of our infrastructure and working methods. It’s clear from the report that the problem was with the sampling rather than the water quality. It has always been of good quality.
A number of recommendations were made to improve our drinking water sampling process, and a series of actions were proposed, such as examining sampler equipment, regularly flushing network ends and checking our network repair procedures. Some sampling points were added, while others were relocated because they were deemed unsuitable due to their configuration or sanitation.
Since implementing these measures, we have had no problems with our analyses. We continue to monitor the situation closely and ensure that we maintain best practices, so that we can continue to provide Brossard residents with top-quality drinking water.
