Recognized for her mobilizing leadership, her commitment to municipal innovation and her active role in major community debates, Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard, has been named co-chair of the 104th Annual Meeting of the Union des municipalités du Québec (UMQ).
This flagship municipal event will take place from May 13 to 15, 2026 at the Centre des congrès de Québec, and will be co-chaired by Mrs. Assaad and Mr. François Robillard, Mayor of Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac.
Ms. Assaad’s selection reflects the UMQ’s desire to showcase visionary elected officials capable of mobilizing around the major issues facing Quebec municipalities, particularly in terms of governance, inclusion and transition.
“The Assises de l’UMQ is a great opportunity to reflect together on what we want for the future of our cities. I accepted this role with great pride, because I sincerely believe that it’s by sharing our ideas, realities and visions that we make progress. It is with great enthusiasm that I commit myself to this edition, which I hope will be lively, mobilizing and full of momentum for our community,” says Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard.

Every year, the UMQ’s annual conference brings together more than a thousand elected officials and municipal professionals, making it an unmissable opportunity to reflect on the issues and solutions shaping our communities.
Ville de Brossard is delighted with this nomination, which testifies to the provincial influence of its mayor and Brossard’s place among Quebec’s influential and innovative cities.
