The City of Brossard lowered its flags at City Hall to half-mast in tribute to the memory of Michel Louvain. The Brossard-based artist died Wednesday evening at Verdun hospital, aged 83.

“Beyond our community, all of Quebec mourns an idol today. We were fortunate to count this gentleman among our citizens. He brought so much joy and happiness to Quebecers for over 60 years. I join all Brossard residents in offering my most sincere condolences to Mr. Louvain’s family and loved ones,” said Mayor Doreen Assaad.

Michel Louvain had lived in Brossard since 2002. This honorary citizen was awarded the Ordre du Mérite, culture category, in 2013. This award represents the highest distinction that the City can bestow on a citizen.
