Brossard, May 3, 2022 – On this day of national funeral in tribute to Guy Lafleur, the Ville de Brossard lowered its flags at Hôtel de ville to half-mast. This former Montréal Canadiens field hockey player and Hall of Famer passed away on April 22 at the age of 70.
“Beyond the community of Brussells, the whole of Québec is mourning the loss of this idol of the sporting world. The famous number 10 left his mark on the imagination with his talent, and brought joy, fervor and emotion to young and old alike for many years with his flamboyant style. Guy Lafleur was a great sportsman, but above all an exceptional person who touched the hearts of those he met throughout his life. I join all Brossard residents in offering my sincere condolences to Mr. Lafleur’s family and loved ones,” said Mayor Doreen Assaad.
The Ville de Brossard is home to the Bell Sports Complex, the training center for the Montréal Canadiens.
