“Mr. Lepage was a man who inspired, rallied and mobilized through his charisma, intelligence, values and sense of righteousness. Involved in various organizations and associations over the years and recipient of prestigious honours, including the Ordre du mérite de Brossard, Alphonse Lepage was an exceptional citizen. I add my voice to those of the members of the municipal council and the staff of the Ville de Brossard in offering my most sincere condolences to his four children: Suzanne, Monique, Michel and Luc, to Mr. Lepage’s family and friends”, said Mayor Doreen Assaad with emotion.

On behalf of Mr. Lepage’s family, his son Michel expressed the following message: “A man who taught us a great deal, including how to stand up straight in every sense of the word! This is what he demonstrated every day of his life as a committed citizen and beloved father.”

Third mayor of Brossard, from 1978 to 1982, Alphonse Lepage was also a member of the Conseil des maires de la Rive-Sud, the board of directors of the Union des municipalités du Québec and prefect designate of the Champlain RCM. Recognized for his years of social and community involvement, he is a recipient of the Ordre du mérite de Brossard and the Médaille de l’Assemblée nationale du Québec, among others. A foundation also bears his name, and its main mission is to help charities and the underprivileged in Brossard.

The Sociocultural Center was named in honor of Mr. Lepage at a ceremony in 2018. It’s a meeting place, a showcase for the arts, a social and community hub that reflects the values of this great Brossardois.
