Homeowners will be able to recover two-thirds of the value of eligible work, up to a maximum of $24,000.
Brossard’s city council adopted a resolution last night allowing the city to submit an application to the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ) to participate in Component VI “Les maisons lézardées” of the Quebec Renovation Program for the 2021-2022 period. A response from the SHQ, including the actual amount granted, is expected this spring.
“With this resolution, we continue our efforts to support affected homeowners and commit to investing a maximum amount of $1,504,126, including a residual amount of $304,126 from uncompleted files under the 2020-2021 program,” explained Mayor Doreen Assaad.
Under the program, the City of Brossard will compensate homeowners for two-thirds, or 66%, of the value of eligible work, up to a maximum of $24,000 ($12,000 City / $12,000 SHQ), for a minimum work value of $5,000. Under SHQ rules, no feedback will be possible in the 2021-2022 program. The owners concerned must therefore wait for authorization from the City before carrying out the work.
Finally, you must still be the owner of the house in question to be eligible for the program, and the work must include the installation of at least one pile to stabilize the foundation. In addition, the work must have been carried out after obtaining a permit from the City and within the prescribed deadlines.
Preliminary assessment of the 2020-2021 program
To date, 205 applications have been received:
| Ineligible applications that do not comply with applicable regulations | 50 |
| Eligible applications (certificates ready for issue) | 22 |
| Applications under analysis 2020-2021 | 41 |
| Applications pending for the 2021-2022 program | 92 |
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several owners were unable to submit the required documents. As a result, most applications will be able to be prioritized for the 2021-2022 program. In this way, people who have already registered will retain their order of priority.
