The program enables the city to offer compensation that allows homeowners to recover two-thirds of the value of the work.
The City of Brossard is pleased to announce that its application to participate in Component VI “Les maisons lézardées” of the Rénovation Québec 2021-2022 program, submitted earlier this year, has been approved by the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ), which has awarded the full amount requested, i.e. $1,504,000. The eligibility period runs from April1 to March 31 of each year.
“This is an important issue for many Brossard homeowners. On behalf of the municipal council, I’m delighted with the SHQ’s acceptance, which will enable us to pursue the efforts we’ve begun with the affected homeowners, who will be able to begin their repair work once their file is complete,” emphasized Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard.
Under the Rénovation Québec program, the City of Brossard offers compensation that allows homeowners to recover two-thirds, or 66%, of the value of eligible work, up to a maximum of $24,000 ($12,000 City / $12,000 SHQ), for a minimum work value of $5,000.
It’s important to remember that under SHQ rules, no feedback will be possible in the 2021-2022 program. The owners concerned must therefore wait for authorization from the City before carrying out the work.
Priority to registered owners
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several owners were unable to submit all the documents required to complete the evaluation of their files under the 2020-2021 Program. As a result, most applications will be able to be prioritized for the 2021-2022 program. In this way, people who have already registered will retain their order of priority.
Finally, to be eligible for the program, you must still be the owner of the house in question, and the work must include the installation of at least one pile to stabilize the foundation.
