08 January 2021 Last update 17/05/2025

Ville de Brossard will be adjusting its service offer and schedules starting Saturday, until further notice.

Brossard, January 8, 2021 – Acknowledging new directives issued by the Quebec government, including a curfew, the Ville de Brossard will adjust its service offering and schedules starting Saturday until further notice in order to contribute to efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19.

“Since the beginning of this pandemic, our priority has been to protect our employees and the entire population of Brossard. I call on you and your sense of responsibility to respect these new sanitary measures and to team up with public health authorities and the City to curb the spread of the virus,” declared Brossard Mayor Doreen Assaad.

Library: access for students only and on reservation

In line with the government’s commitment to providing a quiet, safe place for high school, CEGEP and university students, the Bibliothèque de Brossard Georgette-Lepage will offer them the use of a pre-assigned workspace and computer workstations between 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, starting Monday January 18, by reservation only.

The link to the reservation form will be shared over the next week on the brossard.ca/biblio website and on the library’s Facebook page. Two (2) hour slots will be offered and reservations are limited to Brossard students.

The wearing of a mask and the respect of distancing measures will be required at all times inside the library.

Library: contactless lending maintained

The contactless loan service remains accessible to the general public. For more information: brossard.ca/pretswithoutcontact. There will be no loans at the counter in the library.

The book chute is also open for returning documents. Finally, the library’s digital resources remain available at all times at brossard.ca/biblio/numerique.

Indoor activities: suspended until further notice

Starting this Saturday, the Ville de Brossard will close its sports facilities, including the Michel-Normandin arena and the Complexe aquatique. The Alphonse Lepage socio-cultural center and community centers also remain closed until further notice, with the exception of daycare, food assistance and personal support services offered by organizations recognized by the city.

As a result, the School of Music’s individual lessons will be cancelled, and participants will be automatically reimbursed in the coming weeks.

Free outdoor activities: maintained in compliance with instructions

Free outdoor activities in city parks and at the Centre de plein air (by reservation) are permitted, but must be carried out individually or limited to the family bubble. Visit the city’s website for more information: brossard.ca/winter.

All municipal buildings, including cottages in the parks, will close at 7:30 p.m. every evening, in compliance with the curfew required by the Quebec government.

Finally, it will no longer be permitted to take part in outdoor activities with eight people, unless they all belong to the same family bubble and live together in the same place of residence. Similarly, field hockey is no longer permitted on the city’s outdoor rinks.
