COVID-19 | Garage sales authorized in Brossard

19 August 2020 Last update 17/05/2025

Authorized garage sales on September 5, 6, 7, 12 and 13, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Brossard, August 19, 2020 – Considering that outdoor gatherings of ten people or less in a private place are permitted, the Ville de Brossard is once again authorizing garage sales during Labor Day weekend, on September 5, 6 and 7, as well as September 12 and 13, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. However, in addition to the usual municipal by-laws, it should be remembered that, in accordance with Quebec government directives, the public must comply with Public Health sanitary instructions during gatherings.

For garage sale organizers, there are a few municipal rules to observe, including a ban on encroaching on sidewalks, streets, bike paths, multi-purpose paths, visibility triangles or in any other way that might impede the visibility of motorists or cyclists.

What’s more, since garage sales take place on private property, a maximum of ten people – from a maximum of three households – are allowed on site. The two-metre social distance between individuals must be applied. Wearing a mask is also recommended.

Buyers are asked to touch the items as little as possible. To pay for purchases, Interac transfers are suggested. Cash transactions can be carried out by limiting the time and distance of interaction, and by washing hands after the transaction.

Please note that in the event of rain, garage sales will be postponed until the following weekend, September 19 and 20.
