[COVID-19] Brossard donates $180,000 to help charities

08 April 2020 Last update 17/05/2025

Ville de Brossard is mobilizing to provide substantial financial support to organizations helping people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of $90,000 will be dedicated directly to Brossard organizations that help the less fortunate and the frail elderly. An equivalent amount will be donated to the United Way Emergency Fund, corresponding to $1 per citizen.

“The municipal council stands in solidarity with the people and organizations of Brossard. These organizations provide crucial services to the most vulnerable, particularly during this time of crisis. Through this financial support of $180,000, we wish to concretely demonstrate our deep sensitivity to those affected by the current situation. More than ever, we need to stick together,” declared Brossard Mayor Doreen Assaad.

Already, four organizations have received direct financial contributions from the city: Les Cuisines de l’amitié, La Mission Nouvelle Génération, La Fabrique La Résurrection and La Popote Roulante. Other organizations will be receiving financial assistance in the near future.

Important message to Brossard residents aged 70 and over

In an effort to raise awareness among people aged 70 and over of the government’s instructions, Ms. Assaad has published a video to guide them to resources that could help them during the lockdown period. She also invites younger people to give them a call from time to time; a simple gesture that could have many positive effects in these difficult times.
