Ville de Brossard will take steps to add its signature to the Montreal Commitment.

As part of COP15, which ended this Monday in Montreal, the City of Brossard will be taking steps to add its signature to the Montreal Commitment, joining several other local governments in taking 15 concrete actions to protect biodiversity and ecosystems. A resolution to this effect will be presented at the beginning of the year.

“Protecting our natural environments and biodiversity has long been a priority for us in Brossard. Among the actions proposed by the Montreal Commitment, we have several that have already been implemented or for which we have clear action plans that will be rolled out over the next few years. We are important players who must play a role in acting quickly to halt the decline and loss of biodiversity; this is essential if we are to have a positive impact on the environment and reverse the trend,” declared Brossard Mayor Doreen Assaad and Sophie Allard, President of the Commission de l’environnement et du développement durable and City Councillor.

Over the past 10 years, Ville de Brossard has almost doubled the area of protected natural environments, which now total 31% of its territory. This includes protected areas from the river to terrestrial conservation areas.

To find out more about the concrete actions being taken in terms of the environment, particularly to reduce threats to biodiversity, the city invites citizens and organizations to consult the environment section of its website, where you’ll find the Master Plan for the Management of Natural Environments and theEnvironmental Action Plan .
