The Board of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) today appointed Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard, as Chair of the Commission for Economic Development, Finance and Employment. This four-year term will be Ms. Assaad’s second, having already served as president since 2019.
Ms. Assaad expressed her delight at this renewal of her mandate, which will enable her to assume a leadership position in the economic revitalization of Greater Montreal and Brossard. “The members of the commission and I know that there are major challenges ahead if we are to enhance the economic engine that the metropolitan region represents. I’m convinced that, together, we have the determination and experience needed to meet this challenge and ensure the vitality of the CMM.”
This commission will address the major economic issues facing the metropolitan area. Its mandates cover innovation, talent, foreign direct investment and international promotion, clusters, the organization of economic space and the energy transition of the metropolitan economy.
This working group is made up of 8 elected representatives:
- Four (4) members from the Greater Montreal area;
- one (1) member from the agglomeration of Longueuil ;
- one (1) member from Ville de Laval ;
- one (1) member from the northern crown ;
- one (1) member from the South Crown.
