The Finance Department of Ville de Brossard wishes to rectify false information currently circulating concerning an alleged tax increase.
Contrary to rumours, the coming into force of this by-law for the acquisition of properties located at 6405 Grande Allée will not result in a $1,000 increase in annual taxes for Brossard homeowners following the adoption of Borrowing By-law REG-494.
“This claim is completely false and absurd,” says Nathalie Guérin, Director of Finance for Ville de Brossard. “The Finance Department would never have made such a recommendation. What I can tell you is that this borrowing by-law is fully in line with the city’s investment plan,” she adds.
Ville de Brossard plans to revitalize a neighborhood and meet the urgent demand for affordable housing. This investment is designed to provide long-term collective benefits, while generating additional income for the city.
It is important to note that a chartered appraiser has confirmed the value of the Town’s offer to purchase, which is lower than a previous offer by a private developer. The City’s offer is valid until December 13.
