Projects and development 14 November 2025 Last update 24/11/2025

The City of Brossard is proud to announce that its Plan particulier d’urbanisme (PPU) project for downtown Brossard won the prestigious Grand Prize in the Paysage & Territoires discipline, TOD project, at the Grands Prix du Design 2025, an international award recognizing excellence in architecture, design and urban planning.

This international recognition underlines not only the quality of the design, but also the profoundly human and sustainable urban vision espoused by the city.

Designed in collaboration with Atelier Urbain and supported by Lemay, the PPU for the TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) project for the future downtown area proposes much more than a new built space: it proposes a real transformation of the territory, oriented towards sustainable mobility, innovation and quality of life for citizens.

Audrey Girard, PPU collaborator (Lemay firm), Marie-Ève Charbonneau and Louis-Michel Fournier, PPU designers (L’Atelier urbain firm), Pierre-Yves Morin, Director of Urban Planning, and municipal councillors Christian Gaudette (C-E-L sectors), Tina Del Vecchio (C-E-L sector) and Tina Del Vecchio (C-E-L sector). A lively, connected, forward-looking urban hub

This future inclusive and sustainable downtown will cover the area between Mail Champlain andHôtel de Ville, including Place Portobello and REM’s Panama Station.

It will offer a diversity of functions and atmospheres, with :

  • green spaces;
  • public squares;
  • shops;
  • offices;
  • housing;
  • cultural and sports facilities.

It will be connected to various modes of transport, including the REM, which links Brossard to downtown Montreal in 15 minutes.

Brossard’s future downtown will take shape as a neighborhood:

  • lively and accessible to all;
  • sustainable, designed to minimize the ecological footprint and encourage active travel;
  • connected, thanks to its strategic proximity to the REM, public transit networks and major arteries;
  • human, because it was designed to improve the daily lives of all Brossard residents.

This award celebrates more than just a design: it recognizes a forward-looking project, based on rigorous planning, harmonious integration into the built environment and landscaping that enhances the citizen experience.

A collective success

“This award highlights the exceptional work accomplished by our teams and partners. Together, we are building a modern, inclusive downtown on a human scale that will make Brossard shine for decades to come,” emphasizes Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard.

The city would like to salute the contribution of Atelier Urbain and all the teams involved in developing the project, many of whom pushed back the boundaries to deliver a strong, coherent vision.

Pride and hard work

This distinction confirms that Brossard is resolutely moving towards an innovative, green and exemplary downtown. It also reinforces the city’s commitment to pursuing development projects that combine :

  • design excellence;
  • sustainable development;
  • territory enhancement;
  • and quality of life for the whole community.
