Arbor Day
The Ville de Brossard is continuing its greening efforts with the17th annual Tree Day, to be held on Saturday, October 3. To mark the occasion, Brossard residents will be able to purchase one of the 350 trees for just $10. In addition, Brossard residents will be able to pick up up to 200 L of compost for free during this event celebrating nature.
Reservations starting September1
Anyone wishing to reserve a tree and/or compost may do so starting at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September1, at the following address brossard.ca/JDA. For this event, five tree species—carefully selected for their quality and adaptability to the local climate—will be available:
- Serviceberry
- White spruce
- Western hackberry
- Flemish Beauty Pear Tree
- Liberty apple tree
Once their reservation is confirmed, residents will be able to pick up their tree and/or compost on Saturday, October 3, at the Ville de Brossard’s snow storage facility, located at 4405 Matte Boulevard, during their assigned time slot. Please note that the trees are potted and can grow to nearly two meters (6 feet) tall, and that only one plant may be reserved per address.
“Year after year, we see just how enthusiastic residents are about getting a tree through this program. Every tree planted enriches the urban canopy and improves residents’ quality of life. That’s why it’s so encouraging to see just how committed the residents of Brossard are to greening our community and beautifying our neighborhoods, particularly by adding a new tree to their property,” said Mayor Doreen Assaad.
About Arbor Day
Tree Day is part of a series of initiatives undertaken following the City’s adoption of a tree policy. By organizing this event, the City hopes to promote the environmental benefits of having trees in urban areas, such as improved air quality and reduced heat islands. Since its inception in 2010, more than 11,000 plants have been distributed free of charge to residents during this annual celebration.
