Culture 18 September 2026 Last update 06/10/2026

A free arts season that brings together professional productions, public art, and cultural outreach

From September 18, 2026, to September 12, 2027, the Ville de Brossard invites the public to discover a new season of exhibitions characterized by boldness, diversity, and accessibility. A total of 13 free exhibitions will be presented at various locations throughout the city, bringing the visual arts closer to residents in the spaces they frequent every day.

Painting, photography, screen printing, textile sculpture, digital art, and outdoor installations make up this program, which primarily showcases professional artists with distinctive approaches.

The season will take place at the Hall des Arts at Hôtel de Ville, the Espace Mur-mur des arts at the Bibliothèque de Brossard Georgette-Lepage, the Galerie Renée-Blain at the Centre socioculturel Alphonse-Lepage, and various public spaces.

This program is part of the City’s commitment to promoting professional artistic presentation, fostering encounters between artists and citizens, and integrating art into everyday life.

“In Brossard, culture is at the heart of a dynamic, diverse, and thriving city. By showcasing works by professional artists free of charge in our municipal facilities and public spaces, we make art a vibrant, accessible experience that resonates with people. This season reaffirms our ambition: to showcase Brossard as a city where culture brings people together, inspires them, and fully contributes to their quality of life,” said Doreen Assaad, mayor of Brossard.

When the Visual Arts Meet the World of Cycling

The start of the season coincides with the 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montréal, where the Elite Women’s and Elite Men’s road races will begin in Brossard on September 26 and 27.

To highlight this international sporting event, the City will present Mission ART SPORT by France Malo, the official artist of the Quebec Cycling Federation.

Located along the Boulevard de Rome bike path, north of Rue Lautrec (itinerary), the exhibition will feature works drawn from the artist’s 16 years of immersion in the world of cycling. Through vibrant colors and dynamic compositions, she will highlight the values shared by sports and art: passion, pushing one’s limits, commitment, and bringing people together.

Running from September 18, 2026, to April 11, 2027, this outdoor exhibition will extend the World Championships experience from an artistic perspective.

The Renée-Blain Gallery at the Heart of the Season

The three exhibitions presented at the Galerie Renée-Blain will be the highlights of the program and will help reinforce its position as a professional venue for the visual arts at the regional level.

The Gallery’s season will kick off with Digital Art on Fiber by Paulette-Marie Sauvé, from September 26 to November1. Featuring some 30 works, the exhibition will create a dialogue between Jacquard weaving, photography, optical fibers, and digital technologies. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, September 26, at 1:00 p.m. The artist will also give a talk and lead a guided tour the following day, Sunday, September 27, at 1 p.m.

From November 13, 2026, to February 7, 2027, the public will then have the chance to see a preview in Brossard *Cervelles d’oiseaux* by François Bertrand. This unique exhibition will feature 17 sculptures of dresses whose skirts are made from birdcages. At once playful, dreamlike, and at times dramatic, the works invite viewers to reflect on the concepts of freedom, protection, and identity. The opening reception will take place on November 21 at 4:00 p.m.

Finally, from February 28 to May 2, 2027, the Gallery will present *Multipliance* by Jean-François Roy. Featuring primarily two series of works centered on sculpture and installation, the exhibition will explore folding from various perspectives, including form, repetition, scale, and rhythm.

Cultural outreach activities will accompany each exhibition to facilitate interactions with the artists, foster an understanding of creative processes, and encourage participation by the public and school groups.

An immersive outdoor experience in October

From October 8 to November 2, the outdoor installation “Jardin céleste”, designed by the firm Lucion, will also transform Place de la Gare into an immersive world. A monumental nine-meter sphere, surrounded by luminous globes, will bring to life a garden where light, sound, and movement come together.

An invitation to experience art in a new way

Throughout the season, residents will also be able to explore four exhibitions at the Hall des Arts during their visit to City Hall, as well as four exhibitions at the Espace Mur-mur des arts in the Georgette-Lepage Library in Brossard.

All exhibitions are free to visit. Dates for opening receptions, special events, hours, and information about the artists can be found at brossard.ca/expositions.
